Final Exam day! Although it wasn't as difficult as I was imagining, there were still certainly questions I was unsure of. Could have done a better job memorizing the ratio differences for adobe, cement plaster, and concrete mixes (the amounts of gravel, sand, concrete, clay, straw, and water needed for each) and which tools/processes align with which Earthship operation (i.e. inner vertical greenhouse, vigas, buttresses, flashing, etc.), but I ended up getting an 84, which I'm pretty happy about.
After the final, we got to tour two more Earthships in the Greater World Community--Truchas and the Unity. Much closer to my style than the exorbitant Phoenix. Truchas was the first Earthship we toured today--I especially enjoyed the vibrant kitchen colors and the gigantic banana tree growing in the greenhouse!
The Unity was really neat, too. It had an amazing kitchen as well, and a stackable washer/dryer! There was even a cute little fireplace in the living room.
After we had lunch, we headed back to the classroom for an afternoon class on Earthship Philosophy, took a quick jaunt over to the Visitor Center for a t-shirt grab, had a final team building activity, and a class pizza party dinner.
Believe it or not, it actually snowed this evening, too! As we were wrapping up the class pizza party, snow was starting to accumulate a bit on the sage brush and vehicles. Quite the sight (and much too soon for this stuff if you ask me!)!
